New in maebe: comments on individual images in a post and at a specific point in a video. Available to clients on the approval page too.
As of this week you can comment on a single image in maebe — and on a specific point in a video, that is, on the timecode. Both work in media pools and directly on a post, and both work for clients on the approval page.
Comments on an image
A post often consists of several images. Until now, feedback on them went into the post chat: “The third image is too dark.” As soon as the order changes, that no longer holds.
Now every image has its own comments. Open the image, write your note, done. A speech bubble with a count appears on the tile so you can see where something has already been discussed.
As you write, you choose who reads along:
- Internal — your team only.
- Public — your client on the approval page as well.
Internal is preselected.
Comments on a video timecode
If you come from video production, you already know time-accurate notes. On videos, the timestamp comes along. When you start typing, the video pauses and the current position is pinned to the comment — “at 0:12.4”, for example. Instead of “the wave drags somewhere in the middle” it reads: tighten the cut at 0:12.4.
- In the comment list those entries carry a coloured timestamp. One click and the video jumps right there.
- The progress bar shows a dot for each of these comments, so you can see immediately where the notes are.
- Above the input field there are controls (five seconds back, play, five forward) so you can run the video without closing the comments.
- If a comment shouldn't have a position, one click on the timecode chip releases the pin.
Times are given in tenths of a second — a browser can't seek a video more reliably than that.
Copy all comments as a shot list
Above the comment list sits Copy all. One click puts every comment on this image or video into your clipboard as text: one line per comment, videos with the timestamp in front.
Clients comment without an account
On the approval page your client can write the same comments, timestamps included. Anyone signing in with their PIN writes under their name; without signing in, the comment is marked “Guest”. No account and no app needed.
Your internal comments stay hidden from them — even the number on the speech bubble only counts what is public. Once a post is approved or rejected, no new comments are possible on the approval page; in the editor you can keep taking notes.
Comments can't be deleted
That's a deliberate decision: a comment stays once written, including your own. Feedback that can later vanish without a trace is no basis for an approval. Delete the image or video and its comments go with it.
Every new comment lands in your team's activity feed, and the iOS app adds a notification. There is no email notification; both can be adjusted under notifications.
Which plan
Media pools are part of every plan, including the free one — and so are comments on the media inside them.
Pro adds two things:
- Comments on the individual images and videos of a post, in the editor as well as on the approval page.
- The timestamp on videos — everywhere, including videos that sit in a media pool.
